The notation on the back of the photo reads: "Looking South on Washington Street from 14th street 1875" A view of mostly two- and three-storey houses on both sides of Washington, which runs from lower left to upper left. There is one long building with a clerestory roof fronting on Washington street near the horizon (which is very indistinct in the photo); it looks much like a market or possibly a warehouse. A vacant square of land at bottom center may be what is described on present day maps as City Hall Plaza. Streetcar tracks rundown Washington St.
