A reprint of an 1883 photo reprinted in the Tribune in July, 1988. A view of what is probably the arm of Lake Merritt between the peninusla that is now Lakeside Park and the intersection of 19th [?] Street and Lakeside Drive., to northwest. The photo is framed by two large [oak?] trees in the foreground, a wooden fence that probably belongs to the property of the farm shown in 2000.1.1402 and a boat house and dock. Several sailboats are at anchor, some with mainsails up and some with them down. On the far side of the water there are several large residences. At water's edge at right center there is a sign advertizing "magic Bleaching S______[oap?].
