Depiction: A young, white man and woman walk across a small section of recently laid sod. They hold hands as a small crowd stands around the grassy square cheering them. Behind them is a chainlink fence, behind stands some barely visible National Guard soldiers. The photo caption reads: Instant People's Park. Demonstrators stroll on grassy sod right in the middle of Haste Street as a fresh "People's Park" sprang up Tuesday, three blocks south of the Univeristy of California. The fence, that touched off (in background) a bloody confrontation that resulted in the death of one and the activation of the National Guard, still stands around the property after street people installed playground equipment and planted trees.
