A: Pen (which would have been dipped into ink) with a mother-of-pearl handle and a textured gold bottom and pen tip. B: The case is of black leatherette with a purple leatherette band, top and bottom. Hooks hold the hinged lid into place (only one hook functions properly). The case is lined with bright blue paper.
