This Kava Bowl was collected in the South Pacific by the brother-in-law of the donor while he served on the S.S. Mt. Whitney during World War II. The base consists of 17 (seventeen) columns up to the rim. The rim has a slight flange over the columns. The top of the rim is carved in two geometric patterns; the outer pattern is a carved zig/zag with the inner "triangles" marked with nesting lines. The pattern on the inside of the rim is smaller in scale and is a simple zig/zag. The interior of the bowl is plain.
