Galanos

This collection of eight garments, worn by Nancy Reagan, when she was First Lady of California and First Lady of the United States, illustrates fashionable stylistic changes in the work of California designer, James Galanos. This beaded evening dress was worn by Mrs. Reagan to a wedding event for Prince Charles and Princess Diana in Great Britian. The floor length dress is made of black silk with blue flowers. The dress has a blouson style top with an emphasis on the waist and torso area. The waist of the dress is beaded to match the pattern and colors of the fabric. The dress has long sleeves that are gathered at the zipper opening at the wrist. The dress has a slit at the proper left skirt seam. The skirt of the dress is lined with black silk chiffon, the beaded area is lined with self fabric and the bodice of the dress is unlined. The dress opens with a concealed button closure at center back and with a zipper for the length of the beaded area. The dress has kimono sleeve cut.
