The Tribune photo, dated September 27, 1987, has the following caption on the back: "Flight of Ray-Ban Gold Aerobatic Team over Oakland Airport yesterday is captured on film by Tribune photographer riding in cockpit of Pitts Special biplane." The photo shows the instrument panel, then a portion of the upper wing of the biplane, and then three biplanes overhead flying in formation, with smoke issuing from the underside of each plane.
