This candle was distributed by "Random Acts of Kindness", a volunteer organization created by Oakland Firefighters to make a diffference in our community for a candle light vigil which marked the 1 year rememberance of September 11, 2001. The event "September11: United We Stand" was in Downtown Oakland in front of City Hall from 7 till 8:30 pm. The event included a presentation of music, poetry, spoken word, a candle light vigil, and quiet reflection. Candles were passed out at the event for use in the vigil.
Each white candle has a plastic holder which resembles a cup to prevent the wax from dripping. The holders, in red, clear, or blue, have an image of the Statue of Liberty with the words " United We Stand September 11" on one side, and the firefighters crest with a City of Oakland oak tree inside of a heart, 2 axes, and a scroll above and below which reads: "Oakland Firefighters Random Acts". Beneath the image is the web address "www.ofrandomacts.org"
