Aviator helmet is brown leather, lined in tan cotton flannel. A detatchable flap with rigid eyeholes padded with dark brown artificial fleece snaps on over the eyes. Two small flaps cover the ear holes and snap closed. A long strap fits below the chin and is held closed with two snaps. Helmet was found in a closet in the home of Elmer and Helen Bertelsen. Dr. Bertelsen was a dentist who lived and practiced in Oakland. Who might have used the helmet is unknown.
