2003.46.1

Typical and early Holly Harp dress. Skirt is made of embroidered net (black, red, gold color, light olive green) with slight panniers at either side; the hemline is scalloped. Bodice is of brocaded fabric and is laced down the back through black grossgrain ribbon eyelets. Bodice is lined in a finely knit fabric (silk? or polyester?) with a diaper pattern of orange color and beige squares centered with rondels; lowcut neckline and wide shoulder straps (lined with linen/cotton natural colored lace). This dress was made c.1970-1971.

This dress was given to author Joel Lobenthal, donor, by Holly Harp when he was researching his book "Radical Rags: Fashions of the Sixties" in about 1988.
