At bottom of photo is typed: "(US3)SACRAMENTO, Calif., Jan. 5 -- ASSEMBLYWOMAN IN STYLE - Assemblywoman march Fong, D-Oakland, right, wearing the latest of womans fashions, a pant suit, chats with Assemblyman George Zenovich, D-Fresno, during a recess on opening day of the 1970 Session of Legislature in Sacramento today. (APWIREPHOTO) (WJZ21330WJZ) 1969. From back of photo, caption from newspaper: "OPENING DAY IN CAPITOL - Opening day of the California Assembly saw Willie Brown of San Francisco introducing son Mark, 6, to John Dunlap of Napa and Oakalnd's March Fong in pants suit, chatting with Fresno's George Zenovich. - (AP) Jan 6 1970." Photo appears to be the floor of the Assembly Chamber in Sacramento. It is a large room done in a light color. On the left side of the photo is a tall narrow window with venetian blinds. On either side of the window are two potted palms. On the left side of the window is a suited man apparently talking to an unseen person. Under the palm on the right are three men in conversation with an unseen fourth. All three men are in dark suits, light shirts and dark ties. Behind them in a corner of the room appears to be some type of cabinet. To the right of the cabinet could be a door. On the right side of the photo - upper portion - appears to be an alcove with two motion picture cameras visible. Just in front of this alcove is a man in a dark suit, light shirt and patterned tie looking to his left. On the right side of the photo is the left side of a person - arm and left pant leg only. All or portions of twelve desks/tables are visible along with their matching chairs. The desks/tables are rectangular in shape. The writing portion is either in a very dark wood or leather that is framed by lighter wood. Above the dark suface is a smaller area of the lighter wood that is bordered with a rail approximately three inches high. The top two corners of the desk are finished with a carved accent piece with ball on top. In the left corner of the desk is a microphone on a swivel stand. Just to the right of the microphone is a name plate about the size of a business card. On the right side of the desk are two levers -- to be used in voting? On the left side of the photo is Assemblyman Zenovich. His feet face Mrs. Fong but his upper body is twisted toward the camera. He is smiling and looking at the camera. He has dark hair and sideburns. He is wearing a light colored suit with dark tie and light colored shirt. His right arm is bent at the elbow and his hand is in his pants front pocket. Assemblywoman Fong is standing in front of a barrel-type chair. Her hands are behind her back The chair has a low back and is cushioned with leather back and seats. The leather is attached to the chairframe by large decorative tacks. The chair sits on a base of five or six wheeled spokes. She is facing Assemblyman Zenovich and has a friendly exression. Her dark hair is done in a smooth teased style and meets the collar of her clothing. She is wearing a dark (not black or navy) pants suit. The jacket is fitted, has a V neck, buttons down the front and pocket flaps along a seam. The pocket flap has a button in the middle. With this suit she is wearing a white/light colored turtleneck and a scarf around her nceck caught in a scarf pin so that one end of the scar is over her left should and the other lays down the front of her jacket. Her shoes are black with rectangular gold accent pieces that cover most of her foot.
