This is an albumen stereograph that depicts the entrance to Woodward's Gardens in San Francisco. Twin images are printed on cardboard that show a brick facade with an arched entryway at center. "Woodward's Gardens" appears above the entrance and is flanked at left and right by statues of figures in roman dress and bears holding poles. The photo shows a crowd of people standing in line to enter the gardens.
The carved bears visible in the stereograph are currently in the collections of the Oakland Museum of California (H86.74.1). "Helios" was a pseudonym of Edward Muybridge.
