From the caption that ran with the image the first time it was published: "Mary Lacy, of Collective Black Students, tells students St. Mary's 'is a bomb about to explode.'" From the caption that ran with the image the second time it was published: "Rare Student Protest At St. Mary's : MORAGA - About 20 Hispanic and black students at St. Mary's College rallied against what they called inadequate emphasis on minority education. In the only such protest on the campus in 17 years, they objected to declines in minority enrollment and ethnic studies classes."
