"TAYLOR" in capital block letters stamped on the black metal fittings throughout the trunk. "PAT, OCT23, 08" in capital block letters stamped on the metal handle fittings. The trunk lid has the words "The Ford E. Samuel Travelogues" stenciled on it in white capital block letters. There is a metal plate/plaque on the trunk lid with "C.A. Taylor Trunk Works," "Taylor's," "Professional Trunks," "Trade," "P," "Mark," "Chicago," "New York."

This artifact came from trunk number one, marked "Ford E. Samuel Travelogues," containing a projector, lenses and all the equipment to project a slide show. It also has slides of famous sights from around the world. Artfifacts are labeled 2010.26.1.1 through 2010.26.1.256. See master record for a complete list of individual numbers. (.1) Trunk, brown wood trunk with metal fittings throughout and two leather handles. All the black metal fittings that have a basket weave design on them have the word "Taylor" in capital block letters stamped on them. The handle on the left side is ripped through but both parts are still attached to the trunk. There are two metal fittings that attach each handle to the trunk and these fittings have a flower oncomp them and below the flower the words "PAT, OCT 23, 08." The trunk lid has the words "The Ford E. Samuel Travelogues" stenciled on it in white capital block letters. Beneath these words, on the lid above the center lock, is a metal plate (H1" X W3.5") with "C.A. Taylor Trunk Works" in large capital block letters in a curve. In the center beneath the above words is a circular company logo with "Taylor's" in small capital block letters on the top of the circle and "Professional Trunks" along the bottom of the circle. In the center of the circle are two large "X"s. On the lower left side of the logo, outside the circle, is the word "Trade" with a "P" above it and on the lower right side is the word "Mark." In medium capital block letters is the word "Chicago" on the bottom left of the plate and "New York" on the bottom right of the plate. The inside of the trunk is lined in olive green cloth and divided into three compartments. The bottom left back compartment has dark green felt padding on the walls, the bottom left front compartment has green/black carpeting on its sides and the bottom right compartment and lid have purple felt padding. One of the purple felt pads has a leather covering, one a blue and white vertical striped cloth covering and one a blue cloth with veritcal white dotted stripes covering. The trunk lid has one interior metal hinge and four hinges on the outside. There are four latches and one lock on the trunk, the two latches closest to the sides of the trunk match and the two latches closest to the center lock match. The center lock is broken, the lock has been pried open and is bent and no longer functional.

This trunk and its material was used by Ford E. Samuel, who later bacame Mayor of Alameda.
