Santa Rita

One adult size medium orange jumpsuit with short sleeves and a front pocket on the chest. It has snap closures and a collared neck with a reinforced waist. There is a purple tag in the nape of the neck with "M REG., Permanent Press, 3, 65% Polyester, 35% cotton, Machine Wash or Dry Clean, Perfect." The number 22 is stamped on the back of each snap. The words "Santa Rita" is stamped in capital letters in black ink on the back of the jumpsuit. The Santa Rita jail uniform was worn by a friend of Rafael Jesús González's who was arrested in a demonstration.

In the early 1980s, Rafael Jesús González was active in the Livermore Action Group (L.A.G.), advocating nuclear disarmament through nonviolent demonstrations. Most of these demonstrations took place at the Livermore Nuclear Weapons Lab, and some at other locations such as Vandenberg Air Force Base. Rafael Jesús González's subgroup of the L.A.G. was called "Here for Life."
