A yellow cap rests on a pool of blood on the lower right portion of the staircase. Text across the image at bottom center reads: "Viva El Salvador Libre!"This is likely a reference to the assassination of Archbishiop Romero on March 24, 1980 as he was giving Mass. [LMC]
