Shop for V..._

This unbleached, plain weave cotton shopping bag is trimmed with blue bias tape. Metal grommets are at the top of the bag. Two grommets hold a matching cloth handle on either side of the top opening of the bag. Other grommets have white woven tape threaded through them so that the bag can be cinched tight at the top. Maachine embroidered in a blue cain stitch on the outside of the bag is: "Shop for V ..._" The V and the ..._ are flocked in red.

Ironically, this shopping bag was used by Betty Yoshino who was held at the Tule Lake Internment Camp in California until 1943 or 1944. At that time she and her family were allowed to move to Idaho (away from the Pacific Coast) where they went into farming. She saved the shopping bag.
