Acorns, natural condition. Some sent to Chili Com. Mus., Tientsin, China, exch. Interpretation in the Chili Commercial Museum file, composed 1916: Acorns of California Black Oak, (Quercus kelloggii, Newb.) For use as food. Among the California tribes acorns formed the staple breadstuff, as Indian corn did among the tribes of Eastern United States. Maidu Tribe, Butte Co., California.
