George Pardee (1857-1941) served as Mayor of Oakland, and was elected Governor in 1902, serving one term at the time of the San Francisco earthquake. He was later a founder and for many years President of the Board of the East Bay Municipal Utility District. His family home at 672 11th St. in Oakland has been preserved as a historic house.
