Doll. Description: Small porcelain doll. From the History Information Station: History: Little china dolls with black hair and immovable limbs were common toys in the 19th century. **Today they are called "Frozen Charlottes," after a character in a folksong who was too vain to wear a heavy coat during a cold winter, and froze to death one night. However, no one is sure if 19th century children called them "Frozen Charlottes," or if the name is a recent iinvention. **This applies to Museum number H70.142.11 a terra cotta doll. GMW 10/16/97
