Dress. Description: white dress, cotton batiste or linen lawn; short sleeves, over tunic over skirt, square neckline, 21 buttons down back. Bodice and sleeves lined with net; rows of machine made valenciennes lace down front, inserts down tunic sides, ruffels (sic) at sleeves, and ruffles at hems; Cluny-type (?) lace coupled with the above, and areas of cut work with machine embroiderery white on white trim tunic edges and hem with scallops; pleated white silk satin ribbon...(says "continued on back", but no information on reverse of card). History: clothing worn by Hazel Palmanteer Grunsky, (donor's mother) who was the daughter of the founder of theoriginal (sic) Central Bank in Oakland. She was married in Oakland on Jan. 9, 1913. Dimensions: 55.5" from neck back to hem; 35" bust. This could be a wedding dress. (Joan Severa, 3/9/1994)
