Petticoat - White cotton petticoat woth opening at the top of the back seam. there are also two seams at the front and two seams at the sides. Through the narrow waistline casing runs a narrow strip of white woven material that when drawn tight gathers the petticoat and fits the waist. The hem is decorted with white eyelet having small pointed edges, open small circles, and rising sun-with-rays shapes. Handsewn, short length. Dimensions: 3 3/4 long, 17" hem circumference. References/Remarks: The donor is the daughter-in-law of Emma Morgan North, the sister of architect Julia Morgan. (J. Handley, 1991). Doll is probably a Bru, but is unmarked. It appears to be like those marked "Brevette", an earlier type made by the Bru firm. The face, body and hands are all Bru characteristics.
