purse (beaded bag). Description: a: bag made from wool paisley shawl; paisley is olive, red, gold, and light blue colored (faded); pattern is embroidered over with markasite beads, both back and front; purse has ornate clasp of scrolls and roses surmounted with a closure of cherubim, one on each side clasp and chain are possibly silver; clasp has "257" stamped on the inside, and "Alpaka" stamped on outside, on the right; lining is fawn-colored silk faille, with sewn-in pocket with ruffled top, containing a mirror backed in same material and mounted in leather of same color. b: mirror has small loop of material attached to the top. Dimensions: 9-1/2" x 10-1/2"; length of chain is 11"; Condition: excellent. History: Belonged to Mrs. William E. Dargie (nee Ermina Peralta). I would say c.1920 (late teens). (Joan Severa, 3/7/1994)
