Interesting Hollywood, California Where Stars Shine Night and Day; Postage 1 1/2 c without message . . .Hollywood, The community of Hollywood, known throughout the world as the Capitol of the Moving Picture Industry, is not as most people think--a moving picture town. On the contrary nine out of ten people spending a week in Hollywood, would never know there was this enormous industry within its confines unless something in connection with the industry was pointed out to them. Hollywood derived its name from the Hollywood Ranch, which used to cover a large portion of the present area known as Hollywood. In those days the Hollywood Hills, particularly were so thickly covered with the California Holly that the ranch owner named his ranch accordingly. Several years later, this same ranch owner was instrumental in incorporating the town of Hollywood, and the name followed naturally. About fifteen years ago, the town of Hollywood was merged into the City of Los Angeles, and is now merely one of the suburbs of the greater city, with a community population estimated at about 175,000.
