Envelope reads, "Christmas tree- This is the orphan's Christmas tree: the great emblem of the Yuletide season erected in the Hotel Oakland by the Merchant's Exchange for Oakland's little ones. 12-24-13." Negative shows a very tall Christmas tree in the lobby of the Hotel Oakland. Surrounding the tree are some chairs and a sofa, and part of a man on the left side sitting in a chair. Behind the tree are a set of french doors which are open. The ceiling is very ornate and a chandelier is hanging down near the tree.
