Photograph shows Joan Merriam stepping out of her plane. She is waving and laughing and appears to holding a press release in her hand. On the back of the print, written in pencil is "Joan Merriam Smith at Oakland Airport after around the world flight. Joan Merriam........" [rest is illegible]. Merriam duplicated Amelia Earhart's flight around the world in 1964. Original envelope says "Merriam, Joan A. Lady Flier; died 2-17-65."
