Image dipicts a refugee camp on the grounds of the Protestant Orphans Asylum at Market and Laguna streets during the 1906 San Francisco fire. Photo taken a few hours after the earthquake.

On border of photograph is the hand written date "April, 1906". On the other edge of the photograph is written "The Buring City of S Francisco 19". This image is also displayed on page 96 of the book "Denial of Disaster: the Untold Story and Photographs of the San Francisco Earthquake and Fire of 1906" by Gladys Hansen and Emmet Condon
