This is a booklet in magazine format produced by the Metropolitan Oakland Area Committee, William P. St. Sure, Chairman in 1939. It is a promotional piece for Oakland and the East Bay, primarily Alameda County. "The Metropolitan Oakland Area, Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville, Hayward, Oakland, Piedmont, San Leandro and the country communities of Alameda County, California, U.S.A. Treasure Island's Mainland." The cover is in full color, showing a stylized "modern" skyscraper in white with various colored airplanes flying around in a black sky. The back cover shows a full color image of Lake Merritt and the Alameda County Courthouse.
