The French newspaper "Le Charivari" date April 17, 1849. Subjects include the California rush--Croquis Californiens, Par Cham. Illustration of this subject is a gold mine worked by two individuals about to be blown up by a third individual who is lighting a keg of powder--"Un Monsieur Dangereux." "--Eh bien . . . qu'est-ce que vous avez prepare l_ . . . vous allez nous faire sauter . . . Je m'y oppose. --Laissez-moi donc tranquille! . . . ici chacun travaille comme il l'entend." Translation: --Wellï¾€what are you preparing there..you are going to make us jumpï¾€I'm opposed to that. --Leave me alone!...Here, each one works as he intends to.
