A tag attached to the back of the photo reads "Leo Collar, President & C.O.O. C.M.C." The probable interpretation of the initials is "President and Cheif Operating Officer Crowley Maritime Corporation." Crowley Maritime operated a fleet of tug boats on San Francisco Bay for well over 100 years. In the photo a smiling Leo Collar is facing the camera head-on, wearing a pinstripe dark suit and eye glasses. Note: Reference is made to Crowley tugs in: San Francisco Bay, A Pictorial Maritime History, by John Haksell Kemble, Cornell Maritime Press, Cambridge, Maryland. Page 33 shows the "sons of a waterfront pioneer, Tom and Dave Crowley inspect[ing] a roll of tickets for their launch service.....about 1905" On page 87 "A harbor excursion in the 1920's...Crowley No. 17 and Crowley 18 were 38 ton passenger launches built in 1915............."
