The handwritten notation on the back of thephoto reads: "Margaret Powers in office @ St. Mary Magdalen where she works. Her home was burned, firestorm For Frost Story on Diaries [sic]" In the photo a smiling Ms. Powers is posed, looking over her shuulder to her left, wearing a striped shirt and a cardigan sweater, unbuttoned. [The reference to "firestorm" is the Oakland-Berkeley fire that began on October 19 [?] 1989 and destroyed thousands of homes. JM 11/30/2000]
