2002.76.1A
A: Metal canteen is silver colored, probably made from aluminum, with a ridged steel lid attatched to the throat of the canteen by a steel chain. Canteen is circular in shape, with a flattened bottom so it can stand upright. Stamped in the center of both sides is the manufacturer's stamp with the patent date (Landers, Frary & Clark; Dec. 11, 1923). Canteen was probably used by the donor's grandfather, Kojiro Kimura (1886?-1944), when he went on fishing trips in California, and also as an internee at Topaz, UT.
B: Drawstring bag, shaped to hold canteen. Bag is made from cotton plain weave, with a plaid design of blue, orange, pink, and black on a white ground, probably home-made.
