From front of photo: "A-2406 - H.H. Ag. Mitchell Crosscut looking south Feb 4, 1930 Very, very large rounded tunnel at least 18' high. Tunnel is supported by rectangular shaped areas 36" x 18" that go from the ground on one side to the ground n the other side. Thre appears to be a wall at the back of the tunnel with a double-door size opening leading to next section. Hanging from the center of the tunnel is an inflated cloth(?) tube tha runs the length of the tunnel. there are approximately six lights hung intermittently. Also on the sides of the tunnel are hung clothes of the workers such as jackets and hard hats. Across the photo is a pipe or rope. There are two sets of narrow rails on the tubnnel floor. Between the rails are blocks of wood and/or cement. Some of the block are makred in half. The sizes are random. There is a crew in the tunnel having a meal that has been delivered via rail car. Actually looks like a small car used to move equipment, men and whatever in and out of the tunnel. There are approximately 15 men. They are wearing boots/waders and heavy shirts and work pants. The clothes all shows signs of dirt and/or sweat. The men's faces all appear dirty. Some men are sanding, some are seated on wooden boxes. They each appear to have a plate and cup and utensil. One man is beside a make-shift table with his foot on the railc ar. On the rail car is a large box with smaller one behind and to its left s well as two large contaners for coffee and/or food. All men are looking at the camera.
