Bottom left corner has: "Photo By Edmund Shea". Bottom right corner has: "(c) American Newsrepeat Company, 27 Castle St., San Francisco".

Poster has a photograph of a woman standing, smiling with open arms. Behind her stand two men and one woman. They are all standing on a busy city (San Francisco) street. The top edge of the poster has the stylized text: "Better Living". The bottom edge of the poster has the stylized text: "Thru Chemistry". The phrase "Better Living Through Chemistry" is a variant of a DuPont chemical corporation's advertising slogan, "Better Things for Better Living...Through Chemistry." It was satirically adopted by the drug culture. Photographer Shea (1942-2004) was a friend of poet Richard Brautigan and other Bay Area cultural luminaries. [LMC]
