The Mid-Peninsula Conversion Project was founded through the American Friends Service Committee in 1975 to promote the conversion of the military-based U.S. economy to a civilian-based, peace-oriented, and environmentally sustainable one. In 1982 they became the Center for Economic Conversion. [LMC]
