Pr. of slippers in box.  Description: tan cloth (imitation suede) lined in felt, with a printed Indian head on either toe in yellow, with red face and feathers, green hair and feathers;
a: right slipper;
b: left slipper;
c: box bottom of tan cardboard with brown printing "Comfo Style, 565, 65, House Slippers;
d: lid of box, tan cardboard.

  Condition: a-b: mint; c-d: sooty
  History: New old stock.  See illustration of similar slipper on pg. 112 in the Spring and Summer issue of the Montgomery Ward, Oakland Catalogue for 1937.  Thos slippers sold for $.59 for boys' and women's sizes and $.54 for children's. Cieling price also stamped on the front of the box indicating that the OPA had established a ceiling price for them during World War II.
  References/Remarks: To be rotated in as possible "Christmas gift" or maybe simply on the floor for comfort any time of the year, in the World War II Housing Unit display in the Cowell Hall of California History, 20th century gallery.
