Handwritten in pencil on the back of the photo, "Pic at Hastings first morning (Dec 3d) of strike. Special officer from Hastings with club hit Oak cop with it-(by mistake) then was taken by little man who I think is vice president of Hastings--Buck. Dec 7, 1946." Photo shows a crowd of mostly men under an awning or in an entry way of Hastings. Several police officers in the crowd. One man standing by a wall, wearing a hat and holding up a club in one hand, appears to have been grabbed by a police officer standing behind him who also has one had on the club [trying to take the club from the 'special officer']. Standing in front of the man with the club is a much shorter man who is blocking the face of the cluber and who appears to be wrestling with the man with the club. A crowd of people are standing around watching the proceedings. In the bottom left corner of the photo, is a news photographer with his camera bag slung over his shoulder. In the background can be seen Kahn's department store across the street from Hastings.
