There are two Tribune captions on the back of the photo; the earliest, dated January 21, 1973, reads "RESTORATION AHEAD FOR 3,450-SEAT PARAMOUNT THEATER- Oakland Symphony in bold gamble for an all-Bay Area performing arts center." The other one is dated November 11, 1976; it reads: "PARAMOUNT THEATRE OF THE ARTS STARTS SECOND YEAR UNDER CITY- The theatre, shown here before its restoration, is still being improved."
