The Tribune photo, dated May 12, 1951, has the following caption on the back: "Concord second airport was officially opened yesterday with a program of air stunts, speeches, music and merrymakinhg. Rain failed to disperse the ardor of spectators. Above pictures show a pilot's eye view of the new field. The new airport is located between Concord and Walnut Creek." One hangar with a scattering of spectators in front of it, five parked single wing aircraft, partked automobiles, and farm land on the far side the scene.
