The image is of a young teenage African-American boy, Lawrence Carraway, 14, who is standing outside, holding up a page of school math work to the viewer. He is wearing a Chicago White Sox baseball cap, looking off to his (proper) left. He is wearing a striped short sleave shirt, unbuttoned, over a Golden State Warriors t-shirt. He is holding the school work (heavily marked-up) with both hands against his chest in this waist-up, mid-close portrait; in his (proper) right hand is a pencil. He is standing on a concrete patio, with an unkempt lawn behind him, and the side of a house (possibly part of a townhouse complex) behind that. On verso is the photographer's stamp, "Gary Reyes," and the date stamp, "Aug 7 1992." Also on verso is the description, in black ball point pen, "Project Intaface [sic?] - Lawrence Carraway age 14 brought his homework out during break time."
