Inside the lid is the original tag with the maker: "Alexander Cairns, Optician, Chronometer, Watch and Nautical Instrument Manufacturer, in Liverpool," (England.); Inside the lid on pencil is written Thomas H. Wright, 1852, and Wm R. (Ross) Wright, 1902, SS M...(illeg)" The sextant was used by Thomas H. Wright, who was a ship captain tha sailed out of Oakland and Berkeley and lived in the hills above Piedmont and by his son Ross Wright, in 1902.The case ia A; leather strap is B
