Four (4) butterflies in a Riker Mount which is a thin, glass-topped, cotton-filled exhibition case.   Upper side is orange-brown with darker wing bases; forewing with black apex patch and white bar on leading edge; hindwing submarginal row of 5 small black spots sometimes has blue scales. Underside has a black, brown, and gray pattern with 4 small submarginal eyespots. This description is from top to bottom and left to right. They range in size from 1 1/2 x 2 to 1 1/2 x 1.  VERSO: A dark pink stamp that has a box with the following information inside: "Collection of Clay Ward (obstructed by a hook used to hang the mount) Inglewood-California NAME [line] on DATE [line] LOCATION [line]" In black handwritten ink on the NAME line: "Vanessa cardui" In black handwritten ink on the DATE line: "June 22, 1934" In black handwritten ink on the LOCATION line:"Payson Canyon Utah Co. Utah" Below in handwritten black ink is: "Painted Lady"
