Small wood and leather encased ambrotype. The leather has tooling in a floral pattern with two brass latches at the right side. Inside cover of the case is light red velvet. On the left side is the ambrotype photograph of a man dressed in vaquero clothing on glass. He is resting one hand on a table. The photograph is matted with a gold material with wavy edges.

This ambortype was formerly in the collection of John McWilliams for more than 20 years. He is a well-known expert on Gold-Rush era clothing. [DHJ 1/19/11]
