Beautiful Claremont Park
1875-1900
Gift of Mr. William G. Boardman
H69.38.1679
The two-block area subdivided on the map is bounded on the west by Claremont Ave. and on the east by First Ave. (Miles Ave.?). Hudson St. is the northern boundary and Clifton St. (not named on the map) is the southern boundary. Hardy St. bisects the subdivision. An index map is included which shows the subdivision as a darkened area. A.H. Breed & Co. is the real estate agent. Also included in the brochure are printed engravings of the residences of Mr. Saufley, James Johnson, and J. Howard Smith; there are also three views of the park. The engravings are signed: Enquirer Eng. Temescal Creek, running from north to south, cuts through both city blocks; there are hand-written calculations that appear to be the measurements of the distance the creek flows through each lot. The "Tract List" compiled by Quentin dates the Claremont Park Tract at 1907?
