"California Vacations" connecting walkway, Oakland International Airport Aprill-July 2000

Automobile Picnic Case. Description: a) Case: Designed to fit on Automobile running board. Wood covered with grained black vinyl on exterior, plaid, beige vinyl lid and compartment lining, blue & beige striped canvas lining of inside compartments. Steel corner brackets and closure hardward, flat heavy leather handle in center of case top. Have four large compartments on bottom and smaller drawer compartment which fits into center lid inside has leather-snap closures to hold utensils. Bottom contains: b) & c) Two black leather straps with buckle and center punched holes; for attaching case to running board (case has two snaps on front for attaching straps. d) & e) Two rectangular deep tin sandwich boxes with ring top snap lids. Both held by leather snaps to case (empty compartment once held a thermos bottle) Top Compartment contains six various size compartments holding: f) & g) opaque white glass condiment jars (about 8 oz size) with tin screw on lids. j) cup (10 cm size) white enamel over metal with blue rim and black handle. Stamped on bottom in blue "Sweden" 10 cm. k-p) set of 6 cups: white enamel over metal, same as above but holding about 5 ozs. q-shaker r-cap s-shaker t-cap) Salt and pepper shaker: molded glass with tapered faceted sides, screw on tin caps with large perforations for salt, small for pepper and push lever operated covers to keep condiments dry. u-z) Set of 6 napkins: white linen with natural frayed fringe. aa & bb) black enamel brackets (duplicates of carrying brackets on sides of case) Lid contains: ee-hh) set of 6 sandwich size enamel plates matching cups described above. ii-nn) set of 6 knives: bright metal (silver alloy?) handle has simple floral design, blade is etched with word "Thermos". oo-tt) set of 6 forks; nickle silver, handle has traditional shell design. uu & vv) two soup or serving spoons with "Colonial" design handles. 68 cm x 23 cm. Condition: Slight rust on hinges, bottom fabric torn in few spots case is scuffed, otherwise in remarkable condition. History: Belonged to Patrict Connolly, husband's grandfather, who owned a cattle ranch in Livermore.
