This is a photograph of the basement grocery section at The Emporium.  This photo is from before the earthquake and fire of 1906 when the store was destroyed.  On the right side of the room is a long bar with stools lined up along side it.  On and behind the bar are wine and liqour bottles.  The rest of the grocery is primarily stocked with canned goods.  Cans are stacked on top of each other with signs pricing them at 5 cents and 15 cents.  Two large burlap sacks are in the middle of the room.  It says, "Emporium Java and Mocha Roast Coffee" on the sacks.  The floor of the grocery is tile and wood.  There is a staircase at the end of the room and there are windows on the left side of the room.
