The notation on the front of the photo reads "Oakland Estuary looking north toward the Park St. Bridge." The bridge is off in the distance on the horizon, as is a large cargo crane off to the left. On the near side of the bridge there is a motor-driven ship careened on a slanting concrete embankment. The embankment continues right up to the foreground, where a large crack has opened near the tide line. A large horizontal sign has been painted on the embankment; the readable portions are "L.A." and "it happens." Two large metal-clad warehouses are at the top of the embankment at ground level.
